Make sure that the dust is removed from the tank by cleaning it
carefully prior to fitting the tank cover. The tank covers are tailored
to the individual tanks, but generally there is a strap which fits
around the bottom yolk of the headstock. Securing straps with hooks
or other attachments attach the tank cover on either side of the
tank. Some tank covers make use of the bike's fasteners to secure
the cover. On most tank covers there is a strap or laces to secure
the seat end. These are concealed by the seat which will need to
be removed. In most cases is not necessary to remove the tank in order to fit
the cover. The fitting of the cover should be progressive while
adjusting the tension on the tank. When the tank cover is placed
on the tank, it is usually apparent where the fittings attach. The
tank cover may take up to 14 days to mould to the shape of the tank
- depending on the shape of the tank. In warmer weather the PVC
is softer and will settle quicker. During cold weather, it is advisable
to warm the tank cover in an 'airing cupboard' prior to fitting.
Do not place too close to a heat source!
Products are made in a coated PVC cloth; only use soapy water
with a soft brush and a sponge. Do not use any detergents nor abrasive
products. Keep away from any source of heat. Regularly spray the
seams with waterproofing products.
For Cristal tank cover, very fine abrasive polish can be used to
eliminate possible scatches.
